Musashino PlaceA place where residents can rest in Musashino PlaceThe Musashino Place, which was open on July 9,2011, is a multifunctional facility that combines alibrary with 3 support services?lifelong learningsupport, civic activity support, and youth activitysupport. It provides a space that naturally createsexchanges among residents and promotes activitiesand programs to vitalize the community.The library has a collection of 145,000books as well as 600 magazine titles. Lifelonglearning support plans and implements variouscourses. Civic activity support offers space onthe third floor for civic groups to hold meetings.Youth activity support provides support to juniorhigh and high school students for holding activitieson their own initiative.Towards a gender-equal societyResponding to consumer troublesIn order to be a city in which both women and men can livewith vitality, Musashino City must further promote genderequality by creating a community that realizes work-life balanceand in which men and women respect each other’sgender and human rights. Efforts are made to enhancepublic understanding, including through the publication ofthe newsletter Manako and lectures organized by theMusashino Human Network Center.Experiencing problems? Consult the Consumer Affairs CenterMusashino Human Network CenterAt the Consumer Affairs Center, professional counselors areavailable to offer consultation services and help resolve complaintspertaining to consumer affairs. Furthermore, it holdsprograms, including Consumer Affairs Lectures, ConsumerSchool, and Living Festa Musashino, as forums for providingknowledge and information necessary in daily life. On-siteLectures are also held to prevent losses or harms to consumers.Town Meeting betweenResidents and MayorThe Town Meeting between Residents and Mayor isdesigned for residents and the Mayor to hold“face-to-face”and“two-way”dialogues that will lead to the resolution ofissues. For the Town Meeting co-hosted with the CommunityCouncil, the Mayor goes to each Community Center andexchanges views on issues relevant to each community.Theme-based town meetings and open air town meetingsare also held.Town meeting following the Great East Japan Earthquake on the theme of“safe and securecommunity building”49
