Musashinosakai Jazz Session held at the Musashino Swing Hallevery FebruaryThe lively Skip-dori Shopping Street by the North-exit of MusashisakaiStationBridge above the Tamagawa Aqueduct. Today, visitorscan still be reminded of what Musashino waslike by walking along the Sakaiyamano Park, commonlyknown as Doppo Forest, and along theTamagawa Aqueduct.Musashinosakai is also a student town.The area has many charms that residentshave yet to discoverThe Musashinosakai area is home to two universitiesthat were relocated from central Tokyo in the earlyShowa period. Nippon Veterinary School (nowNippon Veterinary and Life Science University) wasrelocated in 1937. Koa Professional School, the predecessorof Asia University, was established in1941. The large overseas student body of Asia Universityadds an international flare to the town.The Musashisakai Jazz Session is held at theSwing Hall by the North-exit of Musashisakai Station.The session features enthusiastic performances bythe City’s university jazz bands, a jazz orchestra comprisedof City residents and professional musicians.In 2011, Musashino Place was constructed by theSouth-exit. This facility, which merges into one buildinga library as well as functions that support civic activities,lifelong learning, and youth activities, isexpected to increase the intellectual drive of residentsand foster the development of the City. The South-exitis also home to the Kizuki Taisha Shrine which wasbuilt approximately 350 years ago. In addition, astamp rally event, Musashisakai Picnic, is organized.Development that unifies the north and southsections of the town begins with the muchawaited elevation of train linesPrompted by the railway-road continuous gradeseparation project, infrastructures have been developed,including the North-exit station front plaza,station building, side street, and an expressway connectingthe north and south areas of the town. In addition,local group exchanges and the revitalizationof shopping streets were promoted. Other efforts arealso being undertaken to develop businesses andindustries and create an even more bustling town.Musashisakai: Train lines elevated in 2009The area beside the Tamagawa Aqueduct is surrounded by greenery.
