In 2011, Musashino Place, a new hub for civic activities, was created in Musashisakai. In the Kichijoji area, the commercial complex, Coppice Kichijoji opened. As improvements to facilities and urban infrastructure progressed, in 2013 the city population surpassed 140,000. Construction on the Musashisakai Station building was completed in 2014, and later work on the square in front of the North exit was also nished. Community development continues in the vicinity of Mitaka Station and Kichijoji Station that makes the most of area characteristics. Free stroller rental and the project to create an energetic gathering place began, and the center to promote gender equality has been established. Together with residents, the city continues community development that creates a city where everyone can live safely and conveniently.55
