In Musashino, residents cooperate with the municipality to become a sustainable city that coexists with nature. The greening of the city focuses on preserving and creating vegetation both in city-owned and privately owned land, and educating people on greenery and the water cycle.In regards to energy usage, the city is implementing educational activities as it moves toward smart energy consumption. Musashino is also simultaneously promoting urban planning that takes into account energy consumption, such as utilization of solar power generation equipment. As for the issue of garbage, the new Musashino Clean Center that began operating in 2017 utilizes the latest equipment to reduce costs and environmental load in garbage disposal. At the same time, the city is working to reduce the amount of garbage produced by providing education and information to residents and businesses.To protect a pleasant living environment, the city is also preventing pollution including noise, vibration, odors and air pollution; and is moving forward with measures to combat new risks, such as disease-carrying mosquitoes.Tombo Pond in Sekimae Park is drained. The water is removed to clean out the pond, remove non-inhabitant species and transplant aquatic plants. 41
