Musashino makes preparations in anticipation of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics/Paralympics & 2019 Rugby World Cup Heading towardthe future Taking advantage of major events in 2019 and 2020 for community developmentUnforgettable exhilarating experiences through sports!Sports for All:An initiative bringing sports to everyoneHands-on experiences are being conducted for Olympic and Paralympic events, such as canoeing, water polo, rugby, wheelchair rugby, volleyball, sitting volleyball, soccer and blind soccer.The 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics are not just sports events, but also serve as cultural festivals.A wide range of initiatives are called for, including enjoying moving experiences through sports, promoting residents’ health, cultivating civic culture, creating an attractive community and achieving a symbiotic society. Three policy initiatives are being specified and promoted in order to respect the principles of the Olympics and Paralympics, and ensure events such as the 2019 Rugby World Cup are benecial to the city.(1) Promote community development that utilizes residents’ capabilities by rediscovering the city’s allure and sharing it both domestically and internationally.(2) Nurture culture that values individuals and makes the most of diversity by implementing exchange and inspiration achieved through sports and culture.
